If you don’t feel like removing your makeup because you’re super tired and think that nothing bad can happen if you skip your night routine just for once, think again.
Taking your makeup off is a must if you want to take good care of your skin and in this post we’ll tell you why.
Procrastination is always a bad habit, doesn’t matter if we are talking about work, school/university or how you take care of your skin.
In fact, keeping your makeup on for too long keeps your skin from breathing and the consequences could be catastrophic: clogged/larger pores, inflammations, breakouts and premature aging are a few examples.
Is this enough to scare you?
We sure hope so and wish you’ll never want to skip your night routine ever again.
Because yes, dedicating 5 minutes of your time, before going to bed, is really that important.
Taking your makeup off should be considered as seriously as any other step of your skincare regimen and should also be seen as a moment of relaxation/stress relief after a long day.
Are you already planning a trip to your favorite beauty store and you just don’t know where to start from? Don’t panic, we from MAISONLOOg are here to teach you every secret that’s behind a perfect makeup removal.
Let’s start off from the beginning:
What are the must have products? Makeup remover, cleanser milk, oil based or dual phase eye-makeup remover, toner, a copule of cotton pads or, even better, a cotton washcloth. Always pay extra attention to your skin type (oily, dry, mix), use the right products for you and acknowledge that those should not dehydrate or irritate your skin.
STEP 1 – REMOVER
If your foundation is long-wearing or you use a face brush, you can go over your face with remover first.
If not, your daily cleanser should be enough to take off foundation and powder. Massage the cleanser over your face with circular motions and let it sit for a couple of seconds. Then wipe everything off with a wet cotton washcloth. Always be super gentle.
STEP 2 – CLEANSING MILK
Wipe your lips with a cotton pad soaked with makeup remover. Then proceed to do the same all over your face, without forgetting the neck and area around your ears.
Keep gently wiping until no more makeup comes off on the cotton pad.
Tip: make sure your milk cleanser has Vitamin B6.
STEP 3 – EYE-MAKEUP REMOVER
If you think you can remove your eye makeup with the same product you used for rest of your face, you couldn’t be more wrong.
In order to properly take off your mascara and eyeliner you’ll need a specific remover that is not aggressive but, at the same time, will easily take everything off in no time.
STEP 4 – TONER
Now that you’ve remove all the dirt from your skin, you’ll need a toner in order to rebalance your pH levels. To do so put the toner on a cotton pad and spread it over your face and neck.
It will tighten your pores, tone your skin and prove you have deeply cleaned your skin and there’s not any makeup residue left.
STEP 5 – HYDRATING CREAM AND LIP BALM
You’re finally ready to hydrate your skin! As said before, wisely choose the right product for your skin type. It is also important to use different creams for day and night.
And don’t forget your lips! Use a highly nutritious lip balm, better if it contains Vitamin E, so you won’t have to deal with chapped lips the next day.
We hope you have understand the importance of properly cleansing your skin every day, more so if you want to keep it healthy and young for longer then average. We promise it will be worth the effort!
