It would be a shame to spend all that time in front of a mirror in order to take care of our skin just to throw all the benefits away in the shower, don’t you think? So here’s what you should be doing, instead.
Taking a shower has become part of anyone’s everyday routine. Most of us take it in the morning as a way of waking up, but it works as great on the evening, to wash all the stress away. But did you know there are a lot of things that, if done wrongly, can do no good to our skincare?
Since showers are taken very frequently, it would be best if everyone knew what to avoid doing, so that we don’t let those mistakes lead to bad habits.
Keep reading this article to find out what could potentially improve your skin and hair and take notes about what to immediately stop doing.
SHOWERING FOR TOO LONG
The first mistake that we should avoid is staying under the water stream for too long. Yes, everybody knows there’s nothing more relaxing than water gently falling all over our body but, a part from being a complete waste of money, being in the shower for too kong can excessively dehydrate your sin.
USING WATER EXTREMELY HOT/EXTREMELY COLD
We know that anything in excess is harmful. Again, in one way or another, using water excessively hot/cold can lead to dehydrated skin. Prefer lukewarm water, much more gentle on the body.
NOT DRYING CORRECTLY
Make sure you’re not rubbing your skin with the towel once you get out of the shower. Instead, pat it gently all over your body until completely dry, this way you won’t irritate the skin.
NOT PERIODICALLY REPLACING YOUR CLEANSING TOOLS.
An old cleaning cloth can harbor bacteria. You could be re-depositing all the dirt on your body, instead go cleansing it. It is very important you replace cleansing tools at least every three months, in order to make sure your skin is really actually clean. Also, you should remember to let them dry after using them. Your skin will thank you!
NOT HAVING A PROPER BATHROOM VENTILATION
Ventilation is crucial in every home. Excess moisture in the air can cause the appearance of mold on the bathroom walls. Mould can be harmful for both our health and the appearance of our bathroom, as well as decrease the life-span of all our toiletry products.
Now that we have talked enough about our body, let’s start talking about our hair.
Hair is crucial in a person, as it frames our face. Taking good care of our skin but still having damaged hair would be a pity. Shampooing is an extremely delicate action and has to be properly done. Here’s what NOT to do in order to have sleek and healthy hair.
USING THE SAME HAIR PRODUCTS FOR TOO LONG
Experts suggest to change shampoo formula at least every two months. Using the same products can cause build ups on the scalp and it can make your our look unhealthy.
USING WATER TOO HOT
Your scalp is a very delicate portion of skin and because of that, using water that’s too hot could not only irritate it but it could also cause dandruff. As we said earlier, using lukewarm water would be the best solution.
RUBBING YOUR WET HAIR WITH A TOWEL
Vigorously rubbing your wet hair with a towel can lead to excessive hair breakage and hair fall. When towel drying your hair it would be best to use a soft tool or, even better, a cotton t-shirt.
NOT PROPERLY WETTING THE HAIR
Shampoo and conditioners are meant to clean and nurture the hair but they also need to be washed off immediately. Applying them on hair that’s not properly wet can cause the product to boil up on the scalp, irritating it. This is something we’d like to avoid, right?
SHAMPOOING AS THE LAST STEP
Yes, this is a mistake. Shampoos are not meant to benefit the rest of the body as well. They should be washed off with a good body wash, that’s why we should all put shampoo as the first step.
